Spirit: An Andrea Kelley Mystery (The Archivist Book 2) Kindle Edition
Killer Nashville Silver Falchion Award Finalist for Traditional Mystery * National Indie Excellence Award Finalist for Mystery
"Wow! This story was worth the wait. I was completely sucked in. I am so invested in these characters and can't wait to see where things go from here. That ending!" ~ Kindle reader Leah Hines
Lying's easy. Until it's not.
Aaron, the ghost haunting Louie’s Gastropub, has become the bane of archivist Andrea Kelley’s existence. She’s been blocked at every turn by the inability to communicate with him, the glacial pace of historical research just to find a starting place to look for him, and her BFF, Detective William Taka’s refusal to have anything more to do with ghosts.
But when Aaron leads her to a murder victim outside Louie’s, her desperation reaches new heights. Following a lead based on the tattered uniform Aaron sometimes wears, Andrea attracts the attention of the police, shady, finger-in-every-till-in-town businessman Dewey Sanderson, and an even larger shark cruising Charleston, WV’s underground.
With his job on the line, Taka agrees to help Andrea discover what Aaron needs from her—and what he knows about the murder. Their bond opens the door to Aaron’s past too wide, though, and Andrea suffers the sins of the past. Can she find the grit she needs to ignore the suspicions being cast at her? How about enough to survive the attentions of a killer?
Southern Gothic meets Amateur Sleuth in a speculative fiction murder mystery. Typical violence for genre. LGTBQ. Diversity. Second book in series.

"Things are more than they seem. ...fast paced, action packed and a little edgy. I loved how so many things in life interchange. I would definitely recommend this book and am very much looking forward to reading the next book." ~ C. Thompson
"Part police procedural, part history, part thriller, this book is hard to pigeon hole. Good characterizations, and with twist that keep you guessing. I'll be watching for the next book in the series" ~ Kindle reader

- Reviewed in the United States on July 30, 2023Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis is the second in an excellent mystery series. The characters are complex, the plots are twisty and the story lines kept me reading late into the night! I can’t wait for the next book to see what the author comes up with!
- Reviewed in the United States on April 27, 2024Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI really enjoyed this story. I'm enjoying the character development. The only negative is there are a lot of characters, and sometimes I found it hard to follow. Maybe I was tired though.
- Reviewed in the United States on June 1, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI enjoyed both Spirit books very much. The story is totally believable, the paranormal presented rationally as an integral necessity to the plot, and the characters presented so realistically you loved them or hated them, depending on their role. Hope to see more of the heroes!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 6, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseThis paranormal mystery series is not the typical "cotton candy for the brain" type I have read on Kindle. Its a fantastic series but be aware that you must pay attention. There is a lot of information, characters, details and events taking place on a continual basis but that's what makes this series so awesome! The relationship among the two main characters is really unique and interesting too! I look forward to the next in the series.
- Reviewed in the United States on April 6, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseAndrea and Taka have always been close. He’s not a fan of the ghosts but he is always there to help her.
I loved this story as it was a continuation of Ghost.
It was fast paced, action packed and a little edgy. I loved how so many things in life interchange.
I would definitely recommend this book and am very much looking forward to reading the next book.
- Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseA complex and gripping story. I found myself confused in the beginning because this is the second in a series and all the characters were unclear to me. Eventually, I figured them all out and then couldn't put the book down. An exciting and satisfying ending to a wonderfully haunting story. I am looking forward to "Wraith."
- Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2022Format: KindleVerified PurchaseLoved it! I feel so bad for Taka. He should apply to the state police or FBI. I sure would hate to see him start working for Dewey. Maybe he could become a P.I. or a paranormal investigator. At any rate, I can’t wait till the next book comes out!
- Reviewed in the United States on December 19, 2021Format: KindleVerified PurchaseI was sent an advance copy of SPIRIT in exchange for an honest review. That being said, I really liked Spirit. It picks up where Ghost ended. I loved seeing Andrea and Taka back in action. I'm looking forward to the series continuing. Highly recommended and two thumbs up!
